Just a step off the main street in Plovdiv and you find yourself in “KAPANA” area, that means a “MAZE”. And once you enter into it – you do not leave. The area was created as a center of craftsmen still 5 centuries ago , so do not be surprised to streets with names like “Tanning”-“Kojuharska”, “Ironmomgors” – “Zhelezarska”, “Goldsmith” – “Zlatarska”, etc ., And its name is inspired by the rotated maze of small streets.
Today in “Kapana” one will not meet traditional artisans, but contemporary creative entrepreneurs. In the area are gathered in one place galleries, workshops, studios, cozy restaurants and shops, all other kinds o art spaces, and even a shop for musical plates. In the near future are to open doors for culinary crafts workshop, Italian language and cultural center, a recording studio, Armenian Cultural and Information Center, Center for Fine and Applied Arts, a creative workshop for children and adults, and a new gallery and art shop.
All these places in the “Kapana” area create a modern cultural content, not only with their daily work , but also creating events with social, economic and cultural impact on the city.
